How To Set Your Store Shipping and Rates

Setting your store shipping and rates is one of the very important things you need to do when setting up your vendorfy store. In fact, your store setup is not complete until this is done because you won’t be able to sell and ship your products to customers.

In this article, I will show you how to set your store INTER-STATE shipping and rates during the store set up process.

Before you can setup shipping for your vendorfy store, you need to register your store by clicking the ‘create your store’ link at vendorfy home page, and then fill the registration form. Once that is done you will be prompted to complete the setup wizard to finalize your store creation.

On the wizard setup page, you need to fill all the relevant fields to provide more information about your business. To start setting up your store shipping and rates, you need to enable it by checking the box below the page. See picture below.

When you check this box a drop down will appear that looks like the image below:

In the dropdown section, you will see the following fields

  • Default Shipping Cost
  • Per Product Additional Cost
  • Per Quantity Additional Cost
  • Processing Time

You need to fill those fields to properly setup your store shipping and rate, but before we do that let me explain what each of those fields mean.

Default Shipping Cost: This is the default amount you want to charge to ship products bought from your store to customers. Example: let’s say you set 1000 Naira as your default shipping cost, and a added as many products to his shopping cart, on check out he will only pay 1000 Naira for shipping which is the default shipping fee which you have set here.

Per Product Additional Cost:  This is the amount you charge customers if they add more than one different products to their shopping cart. NOTE: This amount if set will be added to the default shipping cost. Example: If a customer adds product A and product B to their shopping cart and you have set 300 naira for this filed, the customer will have to pay 300 + 1000(default shipping cost) = 1300 Naira. The more products the customer adds the more 300 naira will be added to his total shipping cost.

Per Quantity Additional Cost: This is amount you charge customers if they add money than one quantity of a particular product. Example: If a customer adds two (2) quantity of product A and you set this filed as 200, on check out the customer will pay 200 + 1000 (default shipping cost) = 1200 Naira. The more the product quantity, the more 200 naira is added to the final shipping cost.

Processing Time: This is the default number of days it will take you to ship the product to the customer. Please not that this will be displayed on your product page so customers are aware of how long they have to wait to get there order.

You can copy my settings/rates below and use it for your store when setting up your interstate shipping and rates.  This is vendorfy’s default shipping rates based on inter-state shipping, we advice all store owners to follow this rate if you would like to fulfill your orders with vendorfy delivery partners.

Store owners can set a different rate if you are using a different delivery company to fulfill your orders. NOTE: Ensure you check with the delivery company you are using to get accurate shipping rates so you don’t run into lose.

Use the setting below If you sell products that falls under any of these categories (fashion, phones, cosmetic, jewelry, fragrance, skin care and any light weight product NOT more than 3KG) to setup your store INTER-STATE shipping rates.

  • Default Shipping Cost: 2000
  • Per Product Additional Cost: 800
  • Per Quantity Additional Cost: 200
  • Processing Time: 1-3 business days

NOTE: The above shipping settings/rates are based on INTER-STATE delivery. To setup your CITY WISE shipping rates, this can be done after your store setup is complete and approved by a Vendorfy Administrator.
