PUBLISHING THE FIRST SIMPLE PRODUCT TO YOUR VENDORFY STORE
Before adding your first product, let’s get familiar with how product categories, tags, and attributes work.
Product Categories
Product categories and tags work in much the same way as normal categories and tags. You can select a product category when you are publishing product from the category section. It is very important you select the right category for your item as it makes it easy for potential customers to find the product and make a purchase.
Attributes
These can be added per product, you have the option to select your product attribute to give customers more details about the product you are selling. Choosing the best attribute for you product can greatly reduce order return.
Now that you know what product category, tags and attributes are, we can now dive into adding your first simple product to your vendorfy store.

First what is a Simple Product?
A simple product is a physical item with a single SKU. Simple products have a variety of pricing and of input controls which makes it possible to sell variations of the product. Simple products can be used in association with grouped, bundle, and configurable products.
Adding a simple product to your vendorfy store is very simple, if you follow the steps I will provide in this post, you will find it easier.
First login to you Vendorfy Store Management dashboard, click the ADD PRODUCT TAB or ICON. See image below:

You will be redirected to the page where you can add a new product. NOTE: If you are adding a simple product DO NOT check on the catalog, visual or downloadable as this means you are trying to sell a different product entirely. So please follow this tutorial and the screen shoot I will provide here to guide you on publishing a clean simple product.
On the new page you will find the following fields in the first section of the page:
- Product Title
- Price
- Sales Price
- Schedule link
- Picture
- Short Description
- Main Description
- Category
- Brand
- Tags
I will explain what and how you have to fill those fields so your product won’t be rejected by the product validation officer.
Product Title:
Here you need to input the Title of the product you want to sell/publish example: (Gucci heel shoe for women)
Price:
Here you have to provide the original price of the item you wish to sell.
Sales Price:
This field is optional. However, if you want to offer like a discount of sales price for the product, i.e price lesser than the original price. You can use this field to provide the discounted amount. This can encourage more sales for the item, but you need to be very careful when giving discount on your items so customers do not think something is wrong with the product.
Schedule Link:
This comes handy if you want to set a specific time frame of how long you are offering the sales price for the product. NOTE: If you do not provide a time frame for a sales price, it means the product will always be available for the discounted price. However, you can always edit your product to either remove the sales price or set a time frame for the sales price.
Picture:
You can use this link to add a picture of the item you want to publish. NOTE: in as much as we advise you to provide quality pictures for your store, it is very important you watch the size of the picture. This is because every store owner has a free space of 20MB so what this means is, if your picture size is too much it will eat up more space on your store and you won’t be able to add more products if you exhaust your store space. The solution to this is by contacting vendorfy to increase your store space and this comes at a price.

Short Description:
Here you can add a brief description of your product, this serves as an introduction sentence of the product. NOTE: Please do not add any image in this section as your product may be rejected by our product validation officer.
Main Description:
You can type a detailed description of your product here stating all the selling point, unique identifiers such as author’s name, brand’s details, manufacturer’s details, ISBN .e.tc. We always advice you describe your item the best way you can with at least 220 words.
Category:
Here you can choose a category or subcategory by clicking on the arrow beside each category. You must choose the category that best suit the product you want to sell or else you product may be rejected.
Brands:
This section is optional. However, you can select from available brands of your product.
Tags:
Here you can type which tag you like to associate your product to example: sales, women clothes, shoes, best seller e.t.c ensure you separate each tag with a comma and you can add as much tag as you wish for each product.

Section two:
When you finish filling section one, you have to scroll down to section two. This is a very important section as you will be setting your product shipping, inventory, attributes and much more.
First let me list what section two entails:
- Inventory
- Shipping
- Attributes
- Linked
- Advanced
- Product Policy

INVENTORY:
In this section, you will be asked to set the inventory of you product such as number of products you have available for sale, SKU number and how you which to sell the product.
Under inventory, you will find the following fields:
SKU
MANAGE STOCK
STOCK STATUS
SOLD INDIVIDUALLY.

You need to feel these fields corrected so as to keep you store up to date. By filling the fields correctly, you will avoid potential store suspension that can arise due to misinformation.
SKU: This field is optional. However, if you have a sku for your product you can input it here.
Manage Stock: We advice to always use this field as it will help you monitor how many products is being sold and how to restock. To use this field, check the box and a new set of fields will appear where you can provide STOCK QUANTITY ie: 10 or 20. Please see image below:

Stock Status: By default this field will always show in stock. So it is advised to always leave it that way if you have the products available for sale.
Allow Backorder: Here you can specify if you want to allow a backorder for the product should in case the number of stock is low. By default it is set to (Do Not Allow) NOTE: use this option carefully, if you allow this for the product t will appear on your product page and you should be ready to provide the products immediately there is an order for it.
Sold Individually: You can use this field to control how you wish to sell the product. If you check this field, customers will only be able to add 1 of the item to his cart at a time.
SHIPPING:
In this section you will be able to set the product weight, shipping class and dimension and much more. Below is what you will find in this section:
Weight (kg)
Dimensions (cm)
Shipping Class
Override Shipping
Additional Price
Per Quantity Additional Price
Processing Time
Please see image below:

Weight (kg): Here you need to specify the weight of the product as it is used to calculate the shipping fee for the item to the customer and also for the pick-up if you opt in to request for item pick-up at your location. If you don’t know the exact weight of your item, please click here to see our item weight categories.
Dimensions (cm): You can set the dimension of the item if you have the figures available however, this is optional.
Shipping Class: Here you will be asked to choose a shipping class from the list provided. NOTE: The shipping class you should select will depend on the weight of the item you previously provided.
Override Shipping: Please ignore this section if you are fulfilling your order via vendorfy’s logistic partners, our logistic partners provide the best shipping rates.
Additional Price: Please ignore this field because our system will automatically calculate the shipping cost with the weight you provided above
Per Quantity Additional Price: Ignore this section as well
Processing Time: Here you can select the processing time it will take you to deliver the product. NOTE: We advise you select 1-3 days so you don’t discourage your customers as they don’t like waiting for long to receive their order.
ATTRIBUTES
This section allows you to set the attributes for the product; you can select any attribute from shoe size to color or style. It all depends on what attribute you wish to appear on the product page so customers can be aware and get more information to make the right choice. See picture below:

See an example of how to add a product attribute.
Let say we are selling a cloth that has a size attribute of SMALL MEDIUM & LARGE ie: (S M L).
Scroll on the attribute sections available to find SIZE, check the box to reveal the attribute settings. See image below:

On the revealed setting, beside the Value(s) field type SIZE L and click on the option or enter repeat this to add all the various sizes available for the item. And that’s it your done adding attributes for the product!
LINKED:
This section allows you to set a link for other product to up sell or cross sell. This section is totally optional.
ADVANCE:
Here you can set an order note for the product if applicable and also allow product review by your customers. This section is also optional.
PRODUCT POLICY:
Here you can set various policies for each product such as:
Shipping policy
Return policy
Cancellation/ exchange policy
If you do not set this, vendorfy’s general policy will be used for this product.
Conclusion:
After you have successfully filled all the fields as stated above you can now click on SUBMIT FOR REVIEW.
Note: every product published on your store will go through review by our product validation officer before they can appear on your store front and if the product you published does not meet up to standard we shall reject it. You may review the product to make some corrections and resubmit it for consideration.
